Sketchbook Pro

July 19th, 2010

I have Sketchbook Pro on my iPad. Love it. They did a brilliant job of really utilizing a multi-touch screen–menus and undo are all gestural. I have just one request, and this is on the hardware end: pressure sensitivity!

Oh look, a cool cockpit.

Wait a sec, it’s telling me something…

Oh hell yes. That did happen. :)

Three-O

February 28th, 2010

I love February. Tons of holidays, Lunar New Year, cherry blossoms, parades, and hints of winter ending. We all know how important it is to be in the moment, to learn from your past but not dwell there. Still, this was one of those times I’d love to relive. This past weekend, I had my birthday, and it was filled with oxygen, bath salts, a new hybrid car, good food, good wine, and even better friends.

Thanks to everyone who helped make it all kinds of awesome!

Bumps

December 29th, 2009

This series originally started out as a joke: I was trying to show how jostled I was in my boyfriend’s jeep. As it turns out, bumps in the road can turn out to be beautiful things…

And the original inspiration, which is poignant in its own right:

Teeter Totter

Quick piece, done on 3″ thick canvas. Messed around with textures a bit. It’s not my favorite piece ever, but hell, it’s a piece. :P

Falling Cycles 2

October 20th, 2009

One thing I have been working towards is the creation of a series. The ideal candidate was Falling Cycles because of its potential for variation. I’m posting the sister version here, painted on a 3-inch thick canvas.

Sin

Oliver 1

Oliver 2

Ok, so no, not sin as in evil pleasures, hehe. This is Oliver Sin–a close friend and a teacher at the Academy of Art in San Francisco. He’s in his element, teaching an advanced Fashion Illustration course. While I personally don’t have a gift for teaching (largely due to a severe shortage of patience), I admire and am grateful for those who do. Spread the love! ;P

Up-date

September 29th, 2009

For those of you who are curious, a number of very interesting events have been rolling through (and sometimes over) my life.

I was confronted with a really tough choice between a steady, permanent job opportunity, and one with high risk but lots of potential. In the end, I went with the latter. While it doesn’t afford me stability or the ability to make long-term plans for the future, it was a great life lesson. As such, I’ve started a gig with Punchcut. They are very “punch” and “cut” indeed. Who knew a job in the city still meant a commute? Good grief. Meanwhile, I’ve met some great people, I’m in a community of very awesome, hip designers, and I’m learning a lot.

Secondly, one word: aStigma. It was rockin’. It was even in the paper! Special thanks to publicist Michelle! All in all a very successful and inspirational event. More to learn here too, and aspire to.^^

It’s fascinating how one so suddenly comes upon times of learning. There’s just never enough time in this world. A very wise friend of mine once said that yin and yang cycle naturally throughout one’s life. It’s been very yang indeed for me. While it’s a bit rough juggling my time and art, I don’t dare take any of it for granted. Screw you, recession! LOL.

Intro to Binto

September 9th, 2009

In the hopes that blogging about it will keep me accountable, and following in the footsteps of my way awesome friend Mike Moss, I am going to post progress on a pet project of mine. May I introduce Binto Bear!

Binto Bear

You may notice that Binto isn’t capable of much. The size of his head is inhibiting indeed, and he has no mouth! But he may have a surprise for us yet… o.O
